Qualifications

I practiced construction law in Dallas wth a major law firm for 19 years. From 1995 to 2001, I was the Chief Executive Officer of a large commercial/industrial building contractor in Austin, Texas and General Counsel to five of its subsidiary companies (a mechanical contractor, a stone & tile fabricator and installer, a road & bridge contractor,a concrete pumping company, and a general contracting firm domiciled in the Republic of Mexico). I am currently President of a construction risk management firm and General Counsel of its sister company, a Texas domiciled surety company.

I have mediated in excess of 150 construction and surety cases, many involving public owners, and most involving mutliple parties. I would describe my style of mediation as highly evaluative. I am also experienced in dispute review boards, early neutral evaluation, arbitation, and partnering as construction industry dispute avoidance and resolution techniques.
